Meet the Designer

Alfred Beam Sierra , ASID

Some people have a good eye for design. Some people study design. Then there are the select few that LIVE design. My parents should have known that interior design was going to be in my life from the moment that I requested having my bedroom painted green, insisted on green bedding and draperies, and spent countless nights re-arranging my furniture while everyone else slept.

Did I mention I was just five years old then?

All through my life, Interior Design has been present. Whether it was moving furniture as a child, working at my mother's design firm, opening my own boutique design and property staging firm in Florida, to now working in the Chicagoland Area for the last 14 years, you could say that I have been involved in the Design field for over 30 years.

Having lived in South Africa, Puerto Rico, and various cities in the United States, my designs have always been influenced by my surroundings. What has remained constant from design to design is my ability to bring these surroundings into my client’s homes – from what we see and appreciate at a first glance, to the small intricate details that make each room special.

I have worked in the creative arts industry since 1996, from working in the advertising field, to my family’s design firm while in college, to working as a creative consultant in Cape Town, South Africa, to running my boutique design firm in Florida, I bring over 20 years of experience in the industry.

Inspiration to Pursue a Design Career...

Design is in my blood, it’s a generational thing in my family, it’s what we do! I grew up in my mom’s shop, playing with fabrics, trims, watching her whip up new draperies for the house “because she was bored”. I inherited that same trait; I would go to my room at night and re-arrange things. The excitement of showing her what I had done with the room was the sign that this is what I was meant to do. I grew up knowing that Interior Design isn’t what I would do for a living, it would be what I would live to do.
